1. Purpose of this research

2. Guidance on completing the research

The Shape Tomorrow industry research follow-up survey includes questions on employer name, business activity and work location. These data will be used to improve the tools we use to collect data on the industries that people work in.

This follow-up survey is invitation only, and employed respondents who have been selected will receive an invitation at the end of the Shape Tomorrow study.

Once you have completed the follow-up survey, you will receive an additional £10 gift voucher by email or in the post, in line with your preference, as stated in the Shape Tomorrow study. You will receive the additional voucher within 30 days from your completion of the follow-up survey.

You will need your household access code to complete the follow-up survey, so that we can verify your household and send your voucher. The letter you received for the Shape Tomorrow study will include your 12-digit access code.

No specialist knowledge is required to take part. Your honest responses will help us improve our labour market statistics.

Please note, only one person per household should respond to the Shape Tomorrow industry research follow-up survey, and only one voucher is available per household. This survey must be completed by someone who is employed or self-employed.

3. Why you should take part

This study is carried out by the Office for National Statistics (ONS), the UK’s largest independent producer of statistics. The ONS is not affiliated with any political party. You can read more about what we do.

From time to time, we conduct experimental research. This means your data may not be used directly in published outputs, but instead to inform improvements to our data collection tools. This work is essential for enhancing data quality and ensuring that people across the UK are accurately represented in our statistics.
