Aim of this survey
The Open-Ended Investment Funds: Annual Return of Liabilities and Assets collects information about the investment in, and holdings of, various financial products at the end of the quarter.
The data are supplied to national accounts customers for use in the financial and sector accounts and the compilation of UK gross domestic product (GDP) estimates within the UK National Accounts and the UK Balance of Payments. There are numerous other users within and outside government who use the data to produce various financial analyses and to inform policy decisions.
What you need to know
To complete the survey, you will need the following information:
the reporting period, your short-term assets, your longer-term investments, your transactions, your liabilities, comments to explain significant movement and contact details
a full list of all open-ended investment funds included in this questionnaire, such as authorised unit trusts, open-ended investment companies and investment companies with variable capital (OEICs and ICVCs), and authorised contractual schemes, but excluding non-UK funds, money market funds and property funds
All information you provide is strictly confidential.

UK authorised and exempt authorised open-ended investment funds (authorised by Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) or other equivalent UK regulatory organisation).

Your funds have been selected from a list of UK-registered open-ended investment funds.
The Open-Ended Investment Funds: Annual Return of Liabilities and Assets is conducted under the provisions of the Statistics of Trade Act 1947. Once selected, funds are legally obliged to comply. You cannot appeal your selection.
Why you have received this survey
We survey funds of all sizes to ensure our statistics are representative of the UK economy. After aggregating funds to operator or fund manager level, we select larger groupings of funds (with fund values above £5 billion) for this survey because their information is so significant.
We select some small and medium fund groupings, usually for a set period, then replace them with others from their industry.
