The Winter Coronavirus (COVID-19) Infection Study (Winter CIS) provided vital information on the effects of coronavirus (COVID-19), on the lives of individuals, the community and healthcare services. Information from the study helped the NHS prepare for potential winter pressures and improved public awareness of COVID-19 infection levels. It was run by the ONS and commissioned and funded by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA).
