The 2024-based national population projections long-format dataset.csv file contains the 2024-based National Population Projections (NPPs) data for England (En), Wales (Wa), Scotland (Sc) and Northern Ireland (Ni).
This dataset reformats the 2024-based national population projections by projection variant, country, age, sex and year.
Projected births, migration, deaths and total population are given.
Migration is provided for cross-border migration (migration between UK constituent countries), international migration and total migration (cross border moves within the UK and international migration).
Column titles in the dataset are as follows:
projection_name: Population projection variant name - one of 14 projection variants published by ONS
variant: Population projection variant code - please see any of the machine-readable datasets for an index of these.
country: UK country - England (En), Wales (Wa), Scotland (Sc) and Northern Ireland (Ni)
sex: Female or Male
age: 0 - 105 (age 105 represents ages 105 and over)
births: Projected number of births by age of mother last birthday - Ages 15 to 46
deaths: Projected deaths by age last birthday - Males and Females - Ages birth (-1), 0 to 104, 105 (105+)
internal_migration_in: Projected cross border moving into a country
internal_migration_out: Projected cross border migration moving out of a country
internal_migration_net: Projected cross border net migration for a country
international_migration_in: Projected international migration moving into a country
international_migration_out: Projected international migration moving out of a country
international_migration_net: Projected international net migration for a country
total_migration_in: Projected total migration moving into a country
total_migration_out: Projected total migration moving out of a country
total_migration_net: Projected total net migration for a country
population: Total projected population of a country
