What proportion of the teaching and overall workforce does this represent? What proportion are: a) female; b) BAME background (weighted by proportion in overall teaching workforce)?

In order to provide you with COVID-19 deaths by occupation with pre-existing conditions and ethnic breakdown, we would need use to create bespoke analysis. Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, Public Authorities are not obligated to create information in order to respond to requests. We therefore consider this to be information not held.

Table 8 of the accompanying dataset provides the number of deaths involving COVID-19 and all causes by teaching and educational occupation groups (those aged 20 to 64 years) in England and Wales registered between 9th March and 28th December 2020. These are broken down into the following categories: higher education, further education, secondary education, primary education, special needs education, educational advisers and school inspectors, and other education professionals.
