Thank you for your enquiry.

We are responsible for the production of Mortality data for England and Wales, this is driven by information collected from the death certificate at death registration. National Records Scotland (NRS) and Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) are responsible for statistics pertaining to Scotland and Northern Ireland. They can be contacted at foi@nrscotland.gov.uk and info@nisra.gov.uk respectively.

The latest analysis we hold relating to COVID-19 deaths by ethnicity is available via the following link: Updating ethnic contrasts in deaths involving the coronavirus (COVID-19), England and Wales: deaths occurring 2 March to 28 July 2020. These analyses are based on a unique linked dataset that encompasses Census 2011 records, death registrations in England and Wales, and hospital episode statistics (HES) with England coverage only. More information about how this is analysis was created be found via the following link: Coronavirus related deaths by ethnicity in England and Wales Methodology. We do not hold any further analysis on COVID-19 deaths by ethnicity.
