You asked

Please supply the data for the number of Covid-19 deaths in children (say ages 0-19) using the age bands you already use (so <1, 1-4, 5-9, 10-14 and 15-19) by pre-existing condition, with the balancing number being no pre-existing condition?

I would like this data from January 2020 up to the latest figures you have please.

I can find on your website Covid-19 deaths by pre-existing condition, and I can find Covid-19 deaths by age band, but nothing that combines the two.

Thank you for your enquiry.

COVID-19 deaths are published weekly for the age bands of <1, 1-4, 5-9, 10-14 and 15-19 in our Deaths Registered Weekly in England and Wales publication, which is updated every Tuesday.

Unfortunately, due to the small numbers of COVID-19 deaths in under 19 year olds we are unable to provide further disaggregation by pre-existing condition as this would be disclosive. Section 39 of the Statistics and Registration Service Act 2007 (SRSA) which renders it an offence to disclose information held by the Statistics Board for statistical purposes that would identify an individual or a body corporate. As we are prohibited by law from publishing statistics in which individual businesses or persons can be identified, we find that Section 44 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) applies. Section 44 is an absolute exemption and no consideration of the public interest test needs to be applied. This is consistent with the disclosure control methodology used for deaths.
