You asked

I am currently working on a research paper focusing on the economic impacts before and after the pandemic in various countries. For this purpose, I am in need of income statistics for London and the national average income data from 2019 to 2023.

I am writing to inquire if your office could provide the relevant data mentioned above. Your assistance would be instrumental not only in the completion of my thesis but also in providing valuable insights into the social structure of the region.

Thank you for your enquiry concerning regional and national income statistics between 2019 and 2023.

National and regional averages of household income are published on an annual basis as part of the Average Household Income, UK (HDII) and Effects of Taxes and Benefits on UK Household Income (ETB) national statistics; the most recent publications currently being for financial year ending 2022. Table 1 of HDII provides a time series of mean and median household disposable income, and Table 17 of ETB provides a regional breakdown of mean household income, including London. If required, data in Table 17 published in years FYE 2019 to FYE 2021 can be deflated to FYE 2022 prices using the time series of consumer prices index including owner-occupiers' housing costs (CPIH) and excluding Council Tax shown in ETB Table 7.

  • Total annual household income – unequivalised;

  • Net annual household income – unequivalised;

  • Net annual household income before housing costs – equivalised;

  • Net annual household income after housing costs – equivalised.
