This table provides 2011 Census estimates that classify all household reference persons (HRPs) aged 16 and over by age by occupancy rating (bedrooms) and by tenure, from national level to regions in England and Wales on census day (27 March 2011).

1. The 'bedroom standard' definition discusses uninhabitable bedrooms and rooms with less than 50 square feet floor space. The census is unable to take account of these circumstances through the question that it asks.
2. The Census asked respondents to identify who their landlord is and the results reflect the responses they gave. In the past decade half of the local authorities in Wales have transferred the management of all their local authority housing stock to other social landlords. Individuals responding to the Census will report their understanding of their landlord and this may not reflect the actual management arrangements in all cases.
