Thank you for your enquiry.

We hold the following information, which provides age-standardised mortality rates for deaths involving coronavirus (COVID-19), non-COVID-19 deaths and all deaths by vaccination status, broken down by age group: Deaths by vaccination status, England - Office for National Statistics. The latest available data is up to December 2022.

Vaccination status is defined on each day for each person and is one of:

  • unvaccinated
  • vaccinated with first dose only, less than 21 days after first vaccination
  • vaccinated with first dose only, at least 21 days after first vaccination
  • vaccinated with first and second doses, less than 21 days after second vaccination
  • vaccinated with first and second doses, at least 21 days but less than 6 months after second vaccination
  • vaccinated with first and second doses, at least 6 months after second vaccination
  • vaccinated with at least first, second and third dose and/or booster, less than 21 days after third or booster vaccination
  • vaccinated with at least first, second and third dose and/or booster, at least 21 days after third or booster vaccination

We also include an "Ever vaccinated" category, which includes anyone who has had at least 1 dose of the vaccine, regardless of further doses.

2023 data is provisionally scheduled to be published later this year.

Unfortunately, we cannot disclose individual record level death and vaccination data, as this would be personal information. Section 39 of the Statistics and Registration Service Act 2007 (SRSA) renders it a criminal offence to disclose personal information held by the Statistics Board for statistical purposes. Personal information is any data that would identify a body corporate or an individual, including those who are deceased. As we are prohibited by law from publishing statistics in which individuals can be identified, Section 44(1) of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) applies.

Our Policy on protecting confidentiality in tables of birth and death statistics may help to explain these disclosure controls further.
