Breakdown of birth statistics by all 16 ethnic groups

May I have the figures in this dataset but including all 16 ethnic groups — including Mixed Caribbean, please?

We are responsible for publishing births, neonatal and infant mortality statistics for England and Wales. Figures are derived from information recorded when births and deaths are registered as part of civil registration, a legal requirement.

We have published live births, neonatal and infant mortality statistics by gestational age and ethnicity using nine ethnic groups, which are: Bangladeshi, Indian, Pakistani, Black African, Black Caribbean, White British, White Other, All Others and Not Stated.

Live births by gestational age at birth and child's ethnicity can be found in Table 7 of our Birth characteristics release from 2014 to 2016 and then Table 8 from 2017 to 2019.  

Table 5 of our Infant mortality (birth cohort) tables provides numbers and rates for live births, neonatal and infant deaths by 9 ethnic groups and gestational age at birth from 2015 to 2018.

Further breakdown of our birth statistics by ethnicity would need to be created as bespoke analysis. Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, Public Authorities are not obligated to create information in order to respond to requests. We therefore consider this to be information not held.  

However, we might be able to create what you have requested for England and Wales, or something similar, as an ad hoc release. Any such analysis would be outside of the Freedom of Information regime and would be subject to legal frameworks, disclosure control, resources and agreement of costs where appropriate (see ONS charging policy).
