Cases by COVID-19 variant
Our COVID-19 Infection Survey is a household survey that estimates the number of people testing positive for infection in the UK. Our statistics refer to individuals in the community, by which we mean private households. These figures exclude infections reported in hospitals, care homes or other institutional settings.
Unfortunately, we do not hold analysis on the Delta variant by age and/or ethnicity. To provide this information, we would need to create bespoke analysis. Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, Public Authorities are not obligated to create information in order to respond to requests. We therefore consider this to be information not held.
Public Health England (PHE) may be better placed to assist with this request, as they hold more comprehensive data on testing. They can be contacted via email at wn_coronavirus@phe.gov.uk.
Deaths and hospitalisations by COVID-19 variant
Unfortunately, we do not hold data on hospitalisations and deaths by COVID-19 variants in the UK or in England and Wales. NHS Digital may be better placed to answer your request. You may also wish to contact National Records Scotland and NISRA for this data for Scotland and Northern Ireland, as we are responsible for mortality statistics for England and Wales.
