You asked
Please supply a list of the regular statistical surveys you conduct (e.g. Labour Force Survey, Annual Population Survey), and the funding allocated to each survey in each of the financial (or calendar) years from 2002 to 2022.
Please exclude core ONS funding.
If it is not possible to supply this within the time limit, please supply a list of the surveys, and the funding allocated to each in the current year and in as many past years as available.

We have interpreted the term 'core ONS funding' in the question to mean central funds allocated to the ONS by way of Parliamentary Vote Funding received via Annual Estimates. If this 'core ONS funding' is excluded, ONS's remaining survey funding is revenue generated from other Government Departments (OGDs) who fund specific surveys to meet their data needs, or contribute funding towards the total cost of a survey from which they specifically benefit.
Due to the way that non-core funding is recognised in our accounts we are unable to provide an accurate listing of funding received by survey as the data is not held. Revenue is allocated to the ONS department who carried out the work and the associated activity or project. The activity or project codes used are not granular enough to differentiate survey revenue from other revenue, so we are unable to accurately report revenue by survey in this way.
An alternative way of identifying survey revenue received from our customers is to use invoice descriptors, which is how we have proceeded in responding to this request. The table on the next page details the surveys where a customer has been billed and the invoice description indicates that the charges relate to carrying out surveys. The data is split by Survey name and the value of revenue received by financial year. This data is accurate in the context of our review and the methodology applied in gathering the information. Invoice records have only been retained from 2012/13 onwards so we are unable to provide data prior to this period as it is not held.
