COVID-19 Cases

The Office for National Statistics COVID-19 Infection Survey is a household survey that estimates the number of people testing positive for infection and for antibodies in the UK. Our statistics refer to the number of current COVID-19 infections within the population living in private residential households. We exclude those in hospitals, care homes and/or other communal establishments. In communal establishments, rates of COVID-19 infection are likely to be different.

In the dataset accompanying our Coronavirus (COVID-19) Infection Survey, antibody and vaccination bulletin, you can find our modelled percentage of the adult population who reported they have received three or more vaccinations for SARS-CoV-2 in Northern Ireland on tab 3f. Please note, the vaccination statistics that we produce are estimates based on participants in our study and should not be confused with the official recorded vaccinations for Northern Ireland which are published on the NI coronavirus (COVID-19) dashboard by Health & Social Care Jobs in NI (HSCNI).

In the COVID-19 Infection Survey PCR tests are used, more information about the methodology of this can be found at COVID-19 Infection Survey: methods and further information. Please note that the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA, previously Public Health England) are responsible for NHS Test and Trace. For more information on testing protocols in Test and Trace you can visit the government's coronavirus (COVID-19) dashboard or contact UKHSA at informationrights@ukhsa.gov.uk.

The Office for National Statistics does not hold information or data on the isolation and purification of COVID-19.

Further information and an overview of data about the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic from the Office for National Statistic (ONS) and other sources can be found in our Coronavirus (COVID-19) latest insights tool.
