Please could I request:
Deaths in children under age of 18 by age groups from Coronavirus (COVID-19) from December 2019 until April 2023. I would like the numbers to be given monthly over the period above.
Deaths from influenza in children under 18, by age group from April 2003 until April 2023. I would like the numbers to be separated yearly for the period.

COVID-19 deaths
We hold the following analysis, which provides monthly deaths involving COVID-19 by single year of age: Single year of age and average age of death of people whose death was due to or involved coronavirus (COVID-19).
Deaths due to influenza
We hold a range of analysis showing annual deaths due to influenza.
Our NOMIS webservice will provide deaths from 2013 to 2021, with 2022 data published in July 2023.
Our mortality data comes from the information collected at death registration. All of the conditions mentioned on the death certificate are coded using the International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision (ICD-10). From all of these causes an underlying cause of death is selected using ICD-10 coding rules.
The underlying cause of death is defined by WHO as:
the disease or injury that initiated the train of events directly leading to death, or
the circumstances of the accident or violence that produced the fatal injury
Please note, NOMIS does not hold data on contributory mentions.
The ICD-10 cause code for influenza is J09 to J11. Please see the following instructions for the use of this service:
Select period - 2013 to 2021
Select the geography (England and Wales, regional or by local authority).
Select Age – All ages or 5-year age bands.
Select Gender – Total or Male/Female
Select rates – All deaths, rates or percentage of population for example.
Select cause of death (ICD10 code search is available).

The following dataset may also be of interest: Deaths registered in England and Wales – 21st century mortality. This provides deaths by ICD-10 code and age group from 2001 to 2021. 2022 data will be published in July 2023.
Each worksheet holds one year of data, please search for J09-J11 for influenza deaths.

Please note, this data is provisional and subject to change, this is to allow the inclusion of late registrations which are deaths that have been referred for Coroner investigation.
