We are responsible for the provision of mortality statistics for England and Wales. National Records Scotland (NRS) and Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) are responsible for statistics pertaining to Scotland and Northern Ireland. They can be contacted at foi@nrscotland.gov.uk and info@nisra.gov.uk respectively.
We produce the following publication, Deaths registered monthly in England and Wales, which contains monthly mortality figures by area of usual residence, with data published from 2006 to 2020 (please note, 2020 data is provisional).
The total number of deaths in Sussex in January 2015 can be located in the 2015 dataset. The total figures for that month were:
East Sussex - 802
West Sussex - 1,125
