Thank you for your request.

Data on business survival rates are published annually in our Business Demography publication. Unfortunately, this publication does not cover the whole of the period you have requested, as the latest analysis conducted is for 2019. 2020 data will be published in November 2021.

Data in the publication are broken down to local authority/district level and so business survival data for Nottingham and Nottinghamshire has been published. The publication is produced using the Inter Departmental Business Register (IDBR) and this contains all businesses registered for VAT and/or PAYE. Please note, very small businesses who fall below the VAT and PAYE thresholds are not included.

The publication only contains the number of businesses and their survival rates and is not broken down by employment size band including turnover and employment. Therefore, we do not hold the specific analysis you have requested and this would need to be created. Public authorities are not obligated to create information in response to FOI requests.

We may be able to create bespoke analysis on the data we hold up to 2019 to include employment size band including turnover and employment. Such services would fall outside of the FOI regime and would be subject to legal frameworks, disclosure controls, resources and agreement of costs. If you would like to request this bespoke dataset, please contact idbrdas@ons.gov.uk to discuss your enquiry further. Please note, there may be a charge for this work which would be subject to our charging policy.

2020 data will be available to request as bespoke analysis once the data have been finalised in November 2021.
