We said

Thank you for your freedom of information request.

The Unpaid care by age, sex and deprivation, England and Wales: Census 2021 released on 13 February 2023 states that on Census Day 2021 (21 March 2021), there were approximately 4.7 million unpaid carers in England and approximately 310,000 unpaid carers in Wales. When age-standardised this equates to 8.9% and 10.5% of the usual resident population, aged 5 years and over, in each country respectively.

Please see the associated download, which shows how many people that were disabled under the equality act were also long-term sick or disabled (1,870,758).

Unfortunately, we do not hold information on the number of businesses and companies sold abroad. However, there is a link provided by the HMRC which may be helpful to you.
