Thank you for your request.

The Office for National Statistics COVID-19 Infection Survey (CIS) is a household survey that estimates the number of people testing positive for infection and for antibodies in the UK. Our statistics refer to the number of current COVID-19 infections within the population living in private residential households. We exclude those in hospitals, care homes and/or other communal establishments. In communal establishments, rates of COVID-19 infection are likely to be different.

The most recent swab test results (latest 2 and 6 week periods) can be found in Table 1c of the datasets accompanying our Coronavirus (COVID-19) Infection Survey, UK weekly bulletin. The datasets for each UK nation can be found here: EnglandWalesScotland and Northern Ireland. These tables provide the number testing positive for COVID-19 alongside the total number of swabs in the sample. Previous versions of the dataset with information from earlier time periods are available to download using the same links.

Please note, these figures relate to the number of swab tests included in our analysis. The total number of swab tests taken per day can be found in Table 2f in our technical dataset. These numbers may differ slightly as a small number of swab tests taken cannot be included in our analysis. For example, if results have been voided (either by study worker, or participant error, or voided at the lab). The technical dataset provides an overall indication of active participants in CIS.

Unfortunately, we do not hold the requested information broken down by vaccination status and public bodies are not required to produce bespoke analysis in order to respond to freedom of information requests. However, the requested analysis can be obtained via our bespoke services route. Such services would be subject to legal frameworks, disclosure controls, resources and agreement of costs. If you would like to request this bespoke dataset, please contact Infection.Survey.Analysis@ons.gov.uk to discuss your enquiry further. Please note, there would be a charge for this work which would be subject to our charging policy.
