I am looking for historic data on weekly death occurrences by local authorities (and ideally place). I see the data is published for 2020-now, but I cannot find numbers from previous years. I am looking for as many years as possible, perhaps back to 2000 (or even earlier) if possible.

We hold the following analysis Death registrations and occurrences by local authority and health board - Office for National Statistics which holds death occurrences (date of death) by local authority and place of occurrence, including Hospital, hospice, care home, private home and other communal establishment.
Data is available in this dataset from 2020 to 2022 and it is updated weekly every Tuesday. Please note this data is provision and subject to change to allow the inclusion of late registrations which are deaths that have been referred for Coroner investigation.
We also have the following user requested data sets:
Occurrences, not including place of death and local authority
Daily death occurrences, regions of England and Wales, 2013 to 2017 - Office for National Statistics
Deaths by place of occurrence (based on death registrations not occurrences)
Further analysis similar to that referenced in this request is available via our bespoke services route. Our User requested data pathway requests are subject to disclosure control, legal frameworks, resources, and agreement to costs under the ONS Charging policy.
