You asked

Please can you provide the (mean) average age of deaths reported as adverse reactions to any of the Covid-19 vaccines administered in the UK.

I would like to know the figure for all vaccine ADR deaths from the start of the vaccine rollout until the and of April 2021, if possible.

Thank you for your enquiry.

You can find the number of deaths following the COVID-19 vaccine (not restricted to first or second vaccination) in table 12 of our Monthly Mortality Analysis dataset. There are currently 2 deaths registered with the aligning ICD codes for this. However, should this change, they will be updated in this table. This publication is due to be updated in June 2021.

Unfortunately, we would be unable to release any further age-related information requested. Even if we create a dataset containing raw data with direct identifiers removed, the information would still be identifiable. This is because combined with other information, it could be used to identify an individual or to learn something new about an identifiable individual and both of these instances would be a breach of s.39 of the Statistics and Registration Service Act 2007 (SRSA). Section 39 of the SRSA renders it an offence to disclose information held by the Statistics Board for statistical purposes that would identify an individual or a body corporate. Consequently, this information is exempt from release under Section 44 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA), whereby information is exempt from release if the disclosure is prohibited by another enactment.

More information about adverse reactions to the COVID-19 vaccination can be found via the  Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).
