We said
We are responsible for the production of Mortality data for England and Wales, this is driven by information collected from the death certificate at death registration. National Records Scotland (NRS) and Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) are responsible for statistics pertaining to Scotland and Northern Ireland. They can be contacted at foi@nrscotland.gov.uk and info@nisra.gov.uk respectively.
2020 mortality data for England and Wales
We hold the following analysis Deaths registered in England and Wales which will provide non-provisional data for England and Wales for 1 January 2020 to 31 December 2020, including COVID-19 deaths and all cause deaths. This publication includes registered deaths by 5-year age band, single year of age and sex.
We also hold the following analysis Deaths due to COVID-19, registered in England and Wales: 2020, which will provide deaths registered due to coronavirus (COVID-19) by age, sex, region, place of death, and pre-existing condition.
2020 and 2021 mortality data for England, Wales and UK headline figures
We hold the following analysis, Deaths registered weekly in England and Wales, provisional.
This publication includes provisional counts of the number of deaths registered in England and Wales, by age, sex, and region. This publication also includes COVID-19 deaths in England and Wales by 5-year age group and headline figures with broad age bands for UK COVID-19 deaths. Data is available from 2 January 2020 to 17 September 2021; this publication is updated every Tuesday. We do not hold UK figures for all-cause mortality for 2020 or 2021.
We also publish Deaths involving COVID-19 by month of registration, UK which will provide provisional age-standardised mortality rates for deaths involving COVID-19 by sex and month of death registration, for England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. Latest data available is August 2021. This publication does not include age disaggregation.

We hold the following analysis of Pre-existing conditions of people who died due to COVID-19, England and Wales for 2020 and 2021 by broad age band.
