Please supply deaths for influenza in 2021.

Thank you for your enquiry.
We are responsible for producing mortality statistics for England and Wales, this is driven by information collected from the death certificate at death registration. For Scotland and Northern Ireland statistics please contact National Records Scotland and NISRA respectively.
The Deaths registered weekly in England and Wales, provisional dataset shows the combined number of deaths in 2021 due to influenza and pneumonia and the combined number of deaths involving influenza and pneumonia.
Please see the 'Weekly figures by cause' tab within the spreadsheet. Figures for 'Influenza and Pneumonia' can be found on row 14.
"Due to" refers only to deaths where influenza and pneumonia was recorded as the underlying cause of death and "involving" referring to deaths that had influenza and pneumonia mentioned anywhere on the death certificate, whether as an underlying cause or not.
We do not hold analysis for deaths due to influenza separately in 2021. Data showing 2021 deaths from influenza separately will be published once the data have been finalised in the summer of 2022.
