Thank you for your request.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) COVID-19 Infection Survey (CIS) is a household survey that estimates the number of people testing positive for infection and for antibodies in the UK. Our statistics refer to the number of current COVID-19 infections within the population living in private residential households. We exclude those in hospitals, care homes and/or other communal establishments. In communal establishments, rates of COVID-19 infection are likely to be different.

The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA, formerly Public Health England) are responsible for NHS Test and Trace. For more information on the number of individuals NHS Test and Trace contacted to mandate 10-day isolation, their vaccination status, and whether they went on to develop COVID-19, you can contact UKHSA via email at informationrights@ukhsa.gov.uk.

The Office for National Statistics do not hold analysis on how many NHS Test and Trace contacts went on to develop symptomatic or asymptomatic COVID-19.

However, this analysis could be obtained via our bespoke services route. Such services would be subject to legal frameworks, disclosure controls, resources and agreement of costs. If you would like to request this bespoke dataset, please contact Infection.Survey.Analysis@ons.gov.uk to discuss your enquiry further.

Please note, there may be a charge for this work which would be subject to our charging policy. Alternatively, if you are interested in accessing the microdata for the CIS, you can apply to be an accredited researcher with the secure research service (SRS). Once you have become an accredited researcher, you can make a project application to access the microdata.

The Office for National Statistics was not responsible for decisions regarding self-isolation for under 18s or health and social care staff, therefore this is information not held. Your request may be better addressed by contacting the UKHSA at informationrights@ukhsa.gov.uk.
