You asked

Please supply how many deaths by week the UK has suffered for the years 2015 to 13 December 2021. This does not include specifically COVID-19 death certificate registrations.

We said

Thank you for your request.

Unfortunately, we do not hold the requested information broken down by week for the whole of the UK. We are responsible for mortality data for England and Wales, which are based on the information collected at death registration.

The latest available weekly death statistics for 2020 and 2021 for England and Wales can be found in our weekly deaths publication. We have collaborated with the constituent countries to include headline COVID-19 figures for the UK in this publication, but only hold information for all other causes of death for England and Wales.  For numbers of deaths registered from causes other than COVID-19 in Scotland and Northern Ireland, please contact National Records of Scotland and Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Centre.

Weekly deaths for England and Wales, for the period 2015 to 2019, are available via the following link: Death registrations and five year average weekly deaths by local authority and place of occurrence, England and Wales: 2015 to 2019.

You can also find annual death registrations for the UK, all causes, 1887 to 2020, in our Vital statistics in the UK publication, although these are not broken down by week.

If you wish to discuss this further, please contact health.data@ons.gov.uk.
