You asked

I am looking for an aggregated summary of second passports held within the UK is this data available?

We said

Thank you for your enquiry,

Although people can hold multiple passports, we prevented double-counting residents by only showing them in one passport category. When a person had more than one passport, they were categorised in the following priority order:

1. UK passport
2. Irish passport
3. Other country passport

Overall, results from Census 2021 show that 51.6 million usual residents in England and Wales (86.5%) held at least one passport; 8.0 million (13.5%) did not have a passport, down from 9.5 million (16.9%) in 2011: https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/populationandmigration/internationalmigration/bulletins/internationalmigrationenglandandwales/census2021#passports-held.

Statistics on dual passports specifically can be requested as part of our commissioned outputs -- from April 2023. The Census Commissioned Table team are responsible for estimating costs and delivery times for newly commissioned tables further details can be found here Commissioned tables - Office for National Statistics (ons.gov.uk). Please note that any bespoke outputs will have to pass our strict Statistical Disclosure Control process to ensure there is no risk of disclosure of personal information in the dataset. More information can be found here.

Should you require further information, our Census Customer Services team can advise (census.customerservices@ons.gov.uk)

This data is for England and Wales. Scotland and Northern Ireland carry out their own censuses and their contact details are provided below. The publication of UK Census (2021 and 2022) outputs is dependent on the availability of Scotland's Census 2022 data, as they delayed their census until 2022.
