You asked

I would like to submit the following request for information from your organisation:

1. Do you pay allowances or pay supplements to IT and/or DDaT staff or do they have separate pay scales?

2. If they have separate pay scales what are they?

3. If allowances or pay supplements are paid, what are the values of the payments, which grades are they paid to and what are the pay scales for those grades?

4. Where allowances or pay supplements are paid, are the payments increased as part of annual pay negotiations?

We said

Thank you for your request. Please see the following answers to your questions.

Q1: The UK Statistics Authority (UKSA) operate a Digital Data and Technology (DDaT) pay framework for all eligible colleagues occupying roles within Group 1 of the DDaT framework as determined by the DDaT Head of Profession. Roles that are not within scope of the DDaT Framework, may also receive a Scarce Skills Allowance.

Q2: The DDaT Pay Framework for Group 1 roles in UKSA is shown in associated download 'The DDaT Pay Framework for Group 1 roles in UKSA.pdf'

Q3: The tables set out in response to question 2 confirm the values of the allowance payments for each grade within scope of DDaT Group 1. Colleagues occupying specific roles may be eligible to receive a Scarce Skills Allowance which is £3,000 (full time equivalent), if they meet departmental criteria. The allowances are paid at grades Higher Executive Officer, Senior Executive Officer, Grade 7 and Grade 6.

The associated download 'UKSA Pay Scales August 2023.pdf' outlines the pay scales for all other colleagues.

Q4: The DDaT Framework is considered alongside future pay awards as part of the annual pay remit process. There is no guarantee that the DDaT pay framework, or allowances will increase in any given year. Scarce Skills Allowances are set amounts which have not been increased, as part of the annual pay negotiations.
