Thank you for your enquiry.

Our latest Deaths involving COVID-19 by vaccination status, England publication presents deaths occurring between 1January and 31October 2021.This analysis shows vaccination status within or exceeding 21 days, as this is the timeframe whereby the vaccine is deemed most effective.

The data are for England only, as vaccinations data for Wales is not yet available to be linked to the mortality dataset and the Public Health Data Asset (PHDA) dataset covers England only. More information is available in the methods and measuring the data section of the publication.

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide you with the data you have requested for a breakdown by myocarditis, strokes and blood clots for the vaccinate and unvaccinated between 1 January 2020 and 31 October 2021. In order to fulfil this request, we would need use a high level of statistical skill and judgement in order to create a bespoke analysis or table. The methodology used to produce the deaths by vaccination status publication requires complex analysis, linking vaccination records to death registrations. Due to the complexity of the methods involved, we do not currently hold analysis of deaths for more granular age groups or cause breakdowns.  Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, Public Authorities are not obligated to create information in order to respond to requests.

However, we are currently working on analysis of all aspects of the relationship between COVID-19 vaccination and mortality. We plan to publish a study looking into post-vaccination deaths in young people, with a focus on deaths caused by cardiac events on 22 March 2022.
