Thank you for your request.

1. In the dataset accompanying our latest bulletin you can find the number of individuals who provided a first swab and who agreed to continue:

  • In England from 26 April 2020 (the start of the CIS) on tab 7b
  • In Wales from 29 June 2020 on tab 7c
  • In Northern Ireland from 26 July 2020 on tab 7d
  • In Scotland from 14 September 2020 on tab 7e

Please note, response rates contained in the tables cannot be regarded as final response rates to the survey since those who are invited are not given a time limit in which to respond.

2. We do not specify the number of times individuals have been tested. Individuals provide nose and throat swabs every week for the first month and then every month from their first visit for a year (more details can be found in the CIS protocol). We therefore consider this to be information not held.

3. Regarding the total number of individuals who have tested positive more than once, full genome sequencing and antibody status are required in order to understand the reinfection rate using many current definitions. We are undertaking work to establish how we can consider this further.
