Thank you for your request.

The Office for National Statistics COVID-19 Infection Survey (CIS) is a household survey that estimates the number of people testing positive for infection and for antibodies in the UK. Our statistics refer to individuals in the community, by which we mean private households. These figures exclude infections reported in hospitals, care homes or other institutional settings.

We do not hold the total number of positive cases at the geographical levels you have requested. However, you may be interested in our subregional infection rate analysis. You can also find the modelled percentage of the population testing positive for COVID-19 by CIS subregion on tab 1m of the England dataset accompanying our Coronavirus (COVID-19) Infection Survey bulletin. The areas you have referred to are in the subregion 'Hartlepool; Middlesbrough; Redcar and Cleveland; Stockton-on-Tees'. Figures for earlier time periods can be found in previous editions of the dataset.

Further information and an overview of data about the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) and other sources can be found in our Coronavirus (COVID-19) latest insights tool.

Please note that the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA, previously Public Health England) are responsible for NHS Test and Trace. You can find data on infections in your local area on UKHSA's coronavirus dashboard by using the 'search by postcode' function.
