FOI ref: FOI-2024-2091

You asked

I would like to request information on the number of people who died by suicide in the UK since 2014 that are on a waiting list to be diagnosed with ADHD please.

Could this be broken down by age, sex and county of the UK and sent to me on an excel spreadsheet please?

We said

Thank you for your enquiry.

We produce statistics on births and deaths that have been registered in England and Wales. These are taken from information provided from the birth or death certificate. Unfortunately, we do not hold any information on waiting lists or diagnosis specifically.

You may be able to find the information you require from ADHD UK. Alternatively, you may be able to find the diagnosis information you require NHS England, NHS Wales, NHS National Services Scotland and the Department of Health for Northern Ireland.

In case it is of interest, information on the number of deaths due to suicide where attention deficit hyperactivity disorder was mentioned on the death certificate could be created via our bespoke services route. Please note these services are subject to legal frameworks, disclosure control, resources and agreements of costs in line with our charging policy.

Information on the number of deaths due to suicide where attention deficit hyperactivity disorder was mentioned on the death certificate for Scotland and Northern Ireland may be available from foi@nrscotland.gov.uk and info@nisra.gov.uk respectively.

Please contact Health.Data@ons.gov.uk for more information.
