Thank you for your query regarding economic inactivity by reason.

The number of people who are economically inactive, and the reasons for economic inactivity, are published each month on a rolling three-month basis from the Labour Force Survey (LFS). Alongside the seasonally adjusted table linked in your request, we publish a non-seasonally adjusted version of the table. This contains information regarding reasons for economic inactivity, including temporary sickness and long-term sickness, for men and women, without any seasonal adjustments. This table is available here.

In May 2020, a weekly Labour Force Survey dataset (X07) was introduced to help users understand the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic for the relevant quarter on a week-by-week basis. Due to the highly experimental nature of this data the scope was limited and did not include economic inactivity by reason. Therefore, economic inactivity by reason estimates is only held on a rolling three-month basis.
