Thank you for your request.

Unfortunately, we do not hold information on social media usage and its impact on women-led businesses.

We do hold statistics on business use of the internet, websites and social media. These are derived from the Ecommerce and ICT activity statistical bulletin. The results were published annually up to the 2019 reference period. However, this information is not broken down by sex of the business owner.

All results for this output relate to the UK and we do not hold this information broken down for Wales or any other level of geography. The most recent information available on the proportion of businesses with internet access and the proportion of businesses with a website relates to 2019. The most recent information available on the proportion of businesses using social media relates to 2018.

The Ecommerce survey, which was used to collect the data for the Ecommerce and ICT activity statistical bulletin, was paused after the publication of the 2019 results. This was to enable the survey to redevelop and it has been relaunched as the Digital Economy Survey. We are currently processing data for the 2021 reference period with a view to publishing results by the end of 2022.
