Please can you provide me with the following latest information:
- The age breakdown of the population of Birmingham?
- The gender breakdown of the population of Birmingham?
- The ethnic breakdown of the population of Birmingham?
And your reference point.

Thank you for your Freedom of Information request.
The following release contains the data you have requested: National and subnational mid-year population estimates for the UK and its constituent countries by administrative area, age and sex (including components of population change, median age and population density).
In order to find the data you requested:
- Please open the .xls file.
- Click the tab MYE2-Persons.This will give you the age breakdown for Birmingham on row 157.
- For data split by sex, please use the tabs 'MYE2 - Females' and 'MYE2 - Males'. Please note that this is a breakdown by "sex," and not "gender".
Should you require more detail you could also use our latest Census data Sex by single year of age which is broken down in greater detail.
For ethnicity data, please see this dataset on Nomis.
- Then please click Census 2021
- Scroll down and please click TS022 Ethnic group (detailed)
- From the left side please click 'Geography'
- Then 2022 local authorities: county / unitary - and from the dropdown 'West Midlands' and tick 'Birmingham'.
- Then please select 'Ethnicity (Detailed)' from the left and tick the last box by tick to select columns and then you are ready to click on 'Download Data'. This will then create a .xls file for you to open.
