  • How many deaths are there in England and Wales that's directly caused by COVID-19 to date?

  • How many have COVID-19 as a symptom when they died? – i.e not the main cause.

  • Can you please provide the most up to date numbers and percentages between these two?

  • Also can you tell me what the 5-year death average rate is to the same date above?

  • Also what percent of deaths relate to COVID-19 only deaths and others that have tested positive for the virus?

  • Can you tell me how many people this year who are 65+ that have died (that haven't had COVID-19)?

  • Can you tell me the 5-year average for the time? Numbers for men and women & percentages.

  • Can you do the above for all age categories you have and for men and women. Combined and separate numbers.

Please see the following publication: Deaths involving COVID-19, England and Wales publication. This provides the number of deaths involving COVID-19 with no pre-existing condition and with pre-existing conditions. This data set is currently paused. This is the most up to date information we hold regarding this. From March to June 2020, there were 4,476 deaths involving COVID-19 that had no pre-existing condition. Table 5 of this publication will provide the most common pre-existing conditions for all ages and sexes from March to June 2020.

COVID-19 deaths along with other leading causes of death can now be found within our new Monthly mortality analysis, England and Wales: which is available for July and August 2020. September's data will be published on 23 October 2020.

Within our Deaths registered weekly in England and Wales, provisional you will find weekly registered deaths and weekly COVID-19 deaths, both compared to the 5 year average. This publication also shows this data by age group. This dataset is updated every Tuesday.
