Thank you for your request.

Positive COVID-19 cases and the Cycle threshold used:

Unfortunately, we do not hold information on the Cycle threshold (Ct) values of all positive case.

However, our academic partner has published analysis Ct patterns. These can be accessed via the following link: Here.

The findings from our COVID-19 Infection Survey can be found in the following data sets, which accompany our COVID-19 Infection Survey, UK Statistical bulletins.

Please note these publications contain estimates from the COVID-19 Infection survey. The Department for Health and Social Care (DHSC) produce the number of confirmed daily cases, including by local authority, as well as hospitalisations on their dashboard, which is available here.

Deaths from COVID-19:

Our mortality data comes from the information collected at death registration. All of the conditions mentioned on the death certificate are coded using the International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision (ICD-10). From all of these causes an underlying cause of death is selected using ICD-10 coding rules. The underlying cause of death is defined by WHO as:

a) the disease or injury that initiated the train of events directly leading to death, or

b) the circumstances of the accident or violence that produced the fatal injury

Please see the download file beneath Figure 2 of the following publication, Weekly deaths in England and Wales, Week Ending 1 January 2020. This provides our most up-to-date figures for deaths registered as 'due to' and 'involving' COVID-19 from Week 1 to 53 of 2020 in England and Wales. These figures are in Columns F and E respectively.

Deaths 'due to' COVID-19 refers to where it was recorded as the underlying cause of death. Deaths 'involving' COVID-19 refers to deaths where it was mentioned anywhere on the death certificate, either as underlying cause or contributory factor.
