I would like data showing median hourly pay rate for all jobs in different age groups over time. If you are able to send data separately for median hourly pay of part-time and full-time jobs this would be excellent.

If possible, I would prefer the age boundaries to be: 16-17, 18-20, 21-24, 25-39, 40-59 and 60+.

However, if this is not possible, it would also be fine to use the same age bands as were used in the most recent ONS tables: 16-17, 18-21, 22-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+.

Thank you for your Freedom of Information request regarding median hourly pay for different age groups over time.

Unfortunately, we do not hold analysis by your preferred non-ASHE age groups. Under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) 2000, public authorities are not obligated to create information in response to requests, however, we may be able to create this for you for a charge as a bespoke output. Such services would be subject to legal frameworks, disclosure controls, resources and would be subject to our charging policy. If you would like to request this bespoke dataset, please contact ASHE.AdHocData@ONS.gov.uk to discuss your enquiry further.

Data for average median hourly pay for the standard ASHE age groups, for 1997 to 2020 (the latest period for which data are available) can be found on our website:

https://www.ons.gov.uk/employmentandlabourmarket/peopleinwork/earningsandworkinghours/datasets/agegroupashetable6

The zip file for each year contains an Excel workbook for hourly pay: "Age Group Table 6.5a Hourly Pay – Gross [YEAR].xls". This excel workbook contains data tables for all employees, full-time and part-time employees, as well as split by male and female employees.

We do not hold data for median hourly pay by age for earlier than 1997 and the published data on our website are all that we hold.
