COVID-19 data for 0-19 age group

You asked

Can you please provide information on how many 0-19 year olds have died from COVID-19 to date?

I can see on the NHS website 0-19 state 41 in hospitals. Have there been any deaths in these age groups in other settings?

I only want to know figures for children so if you have figures in different age format please confirm those.

Using the Deaths due to COVID-19, registered in England and Wales: 2020 there have been 15 deaths involving under 19 year olds in 2020.

Unfortunately, the analysis undertaken on deaths involving or due to COVID by place of occurrence has broader age bands.

When we say that a death 'involved' COVID-19, we mean that COVID-19 was mentioned anywhere on the death certificate, possibly along with other health conditions, not necessarily as the underlying cause of death. When we say that a death was 'due to' COVID-19, we mean that COVID-19 was the underlying cause of death, because it was either the only health condition mentioned on the death certificate, or it was the one that started the train of events leading to death.

If this does not meet your needs, we may be able to create a custom output. Information on deaths by cause, age and place of occurrence  along with other special extracts and tabulations of mortality data for England and Wales are available to order (subject to legal frameworks, disclosure control, resources and agreements of costs, where appropriate).

2021 data

Unfortunately, we would be unable to provide you with COVID-19 deaths by age and place of occurrence for 2021.  In order to fulfil this request, we would need use a high level of statistical skill and judgement in order to create a bespoke analysis or table. Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, Public Authorities are not obligated to create information to respond to requests. We therefore consider this to be information not held.

2021 is available in our Deaths Registered Weekly in England and Wales publication.

I have summed the data from 2nd January 2021 to 25th June 2021, which is the latest data available. This publication is updated every Tuesday. We have not undertaken analysis of deaths by place of occurrence.
