Age specific deaths involving COVID-19 deaths in Powys

Please supply ​how many healthy 50 years olds have died in Powys from COVID-19.

Thank you for your enquiry.

Unfortunately, we are unable to publish the number of COVID-19 deaths registered in Powys with no pre-existing health conditions who are 50 years of age for 2020 or 2021 as it is considered personal information. Section 39  of the Statistics and Registration Service Act 2007 (SRSA) renders it an offence to disclose information held by the Statistics Board for statistical purposes that would identify an individual or a body corporate. As we are prohibited by law from publishing statistics in which individuals can be identified, we find that Section 44 of the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) applies. Section 44 is an absolute exemption and no consideration of the public interest test needs to be applied. 

We do hold COVID-19 deaths in Powys on a weekly basis as part of our Death registrations and occurrences by local authority and health board publication, however this is not disaggregated by age. This publication is updated every Tuesday.

Using our NOMIS webservice, you can also select COVID-19 deaths for Powys by 5-year age group that were registered in 2020.
