You asked

Can you give the statistics for homicide in the UK in the decades 1920s, 1960s and 1980s?

We said

Thank you for your request.

We publish homicide data from the Home Office Homicide Index, which contains information about each homicide recorded by police in England and Wales.

Table 1 in our Appendix tables: homicide in England and Wales contains the number of offences initially recorded as homicide in England and Wales for the year ending December 1960 to year ending March 2021.

The Home Office have published Historical crime data which give individual offence data from 1898 to 2002.

It should be noted that our statistics only cover England and Wales. The Scottish government publish statistical bulletins for homicide on their Homicide in Scotland statistics webpage and can be contacted by email at justice_analysts@gov.scot. For homicide data from Northern Ireland, you can contact the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) at this email address zCSUwebstats@psni.pnn.police.uk.
