You asked

I would like to know how many applications (successful or not, processed or not. i.e. total applications) that have been made for compensation through the vaccine damage payment scheme.

This is to cover only claims made against COVID-19 vaccines of any type administered in the whole of the UK, however I do not need the claims segregated into vaccine type or region.

I would like it split into claims due to death and claims due to any other damage.

It should cover the entire period of vaccination from the roll out on 8 December 2020 to the present day.

Thank you for your request.

The COVID-19 Infection Survey (CIS) is a household survey that estimates the number of people testing positive for infection and for antibodies in the UK. Our statistics refer to the number of current COVID-19 infections within the population living in private residential households. We exclude those in hospitals, care homes and/or other communal establishments. In communal establishments, rates of COVID-19 infection are likely to be different.

We do not hold information on applications that are made for claims following COVID-19 vaccinations through the Vaccine Damage Payment Scheme.

The Vaccine Damage Payments Scheme is run by the NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA). You can find out how to request information from NHSBSA by visiting their Freedom of Information (FOI) website.
