Thank you for your request.

We are responsible for mortality statistics for England and Wales. National Records Scotland (NRS) and Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) are responsible for statistics pertaining to Scotland and Northern Ireland. They can be contacted at foi@nrscotland.gov.uk and info@nisra.gov.uk respectively.

Please see the following link to a previous FOI response, which provides the answer to your request for data regarding COVID-19 deaths with no underlying health conditions: https://www.ons.gov.uk/aboutus/transparencyandgovernance/freedomofinformationfoi/covid19deathswithandwithoutpreexistingconditions

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide information regarding whether those who have died from COVID-19 contracted the disease whilst in hospital, as this information is not recorded on the death certificate. Therefore, we do not hold this information. Public Health England (PHE) may be better placed to assist. They can be contacted via email at wn_coronavirus@phe.gov.uk.
