You asked

Please supply how many people have died from 2010- 2020 in Gloucester according to burials and cremations.

Please break this information down into years (2010, 2011, 2012... etc)

We said

Thank you for your request.

We are responsible for the production of mortality data for England and Wales, this is driven by the information collected from death certificates at death registration. We do not hold information on the number of burials and cremations of the deceased, as this is not provided during the registration.

However, in case it is of interest, we hold the mortality data on our explorable dataset available on our NOMIS webservice between the years 2013-2020. This can be accessed on this website using the following instructions:

  • Select the geography (England and Wales, regional or by local authority).
  • Select Age - All ages or 5 year age bands.
  • Select Gender - Total or Male/Female
  • Select rates - All deaths, rates or percentage of population for example.
  • Select cause of death (ICD10 code search is available).
  • Select format (Excel or CSV for example)

If you would like to obtain mortality data for the years 2010 to 2012, we may be able to create this for your as bespoke analysis. Special extracts and tabulations of mortality data for England and Wales are available to order (subject to legal frameworks, disclosure control, resources and agreements of costs, where appropriate). Such enquiries would fall outside of the Freedom of Information regime and should be made to: Health.Data@ons.gov.uk.
