You asked

Please supply the CPI % from ONS for the oil and gas price for each month over the last 10 years.

We said

Thank you for your query about percentage changes for oil and gas in the CPI.

Please see our spreadsheet reference tables to see the different percentages and headings available. Table 4 (rows 71 and 72) contains the latest 12-month rates for May 2021 to January 2022 for gas and liquid fuels; the former includes natural gas and butane while the latter includes regular kerosene for domestic heating. Table 22 (rows 136 and 137) of the reference tables breaks the gas figure down into the two separate components.

In the left-hand margins of these tables, you will see four-character identifiers for the relevant series. The identifiers for the 12-month rates for each series are:

D7I8   Gas

L7N4  Natural gas and town gas

L7N6  Liquefied hydrocarbons (butane)

D7I9   Liquid fuels (kerosene)

If you enter these identifiers into the search bar at the top of the page on our website, the system will pull up the full length of the individual series as a chart (for example, gas) and clicking on "Table" under the filters subheading will convert this to tabular form. There is a download option just below the chart (or table) which will enable further analysis of the series in spreadsheet format.

If you wanted all of the series to appear in one table, then from our home page, select "Main figures -- From our time series explorer" which is just below the Coronavirus heading near the top of the page. Enter the four character identifiers in the search keywords on the left of the resulting page, click "Select all" in the middle of the page and the green "Selection" button on the right, then select "Download" in the resulting pop-up page.
