Could you please tell me how many people have died in the UK of any cause from 01/01/2020 to date please December 2020 under the Freedom of Information FOI Act 2000.

We are responsible for the production of Mortality data for England and Wales, this is driven by information collected from the death certificate at death registration. National Records Scotland (NRS) and Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) are responsible for statistics pertaining to Scotland and Northern Ireland. They can be contacted at foi@nrscotland.gov.uk and info@nisra.gov.uk respectively.
Please see the following publication: Deaths registered weekly in England and Wales, provisional. This publication states that the total deaths from all causes in England and Wales, as of week 51 (week ending 18 December) is 592, 525 deaths. This is the latest data available.
