I am looking to find data on the distribution of individual wealth by age band over time for all the years available since the Wealth and Assets Survey began (2006-08, 2008-10, 2010-12, 2012-14, 2014-16, 2016-2018).
We said
The Wealth and Assets survey holds data on individual wealth from the period July 2010 onwards. Although the Wealth and Assets survey has been collecting data since July 2006 individual level wealth is only available from July 2010 onwards.
Data relating to individual wealth by age band of individuals has been published for the period April 2016 to March 2018 as an ad-hoc analysis table, https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/personalandhouseholdfinances/incomeandwealth/adhocs/11503totalindividualwealthincludingandexcludingprivatepensionwealthbyagebandsummarystatisticsgreatbritainapril2016tomarch2018. However, analysis for earlier available periods, (July 2010 onwards) has not been created.
Under Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA), this request would be information not held as we would need to create the bespoke analysis in order to answer your request. As we are not obligated to create information under FOIA, such analysis would fall outside the FOI regime and would be subject to legal frameworks, disclosure control, resources, and agreement of costs.
