You asked

Can you please tell me you have any information or data that can help me establish the ethnicity breakdown for employment in the UK Print and Printed Packaging Industry.  Is employment ethnicity available by industry SIC codes?

If so, these are the SIC codes that I would be interested in.

At two digit SIC level: 17 and 18

At three digit level: 172 and 181

At four digit level: 1721, 1723, 1724, 1726, 1811, 1812, 1813, 1814

We said

Thank you for your query regarding the ethnicity breakdown of people employed in the Print and Printed Packaging industry in the UK.

The number of people employed in different industries and their ethnicity are estimated using the Annual Population Survey (APS), a survey based on interviews with members of private households in the UK.

Industries on APS are classified in line with the UK Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) 2007. Estimates of the number of people employed in each industry by ethnicity are available from our Nomis website. By changing the selections, you can access estimates for different regions and periods.

Unfortunately, these estimates are only available at Section level SIC as we do not routinely produce estimates for ethnicity by industry at Division level SIC due to small sample sizes.

You can request an ad-hoc analysis to be produced, by contacting our social surveys team. We may charge for this service, in line with our charging policy, depending on the amount of time taken to develop the analyses and undertake quality and disclosure control processes. However, on this occasion the small sample sizes mean that this analysis is unlikely to yield useful results.
