You asked

I would like broken down the full death tolls from the years 2013 to 2020 for every single death registered.

We said

Thank you for your enquiry.

We hold mortality data for England and Wales, based on the information collected at death registration.

National Records Scotland (NRS) and Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) are responsible for producing statistics for Scotland and Northern Ireland. They can be contacted at foi@nrscotland.gov.uk and info@nisra.gov.uk, respectively.

However, we have collaborated with the constituent countries to produce headline mortality figures for the UK. These are available in our Vital statistics in the UK: births, deaths and marriages publication. The latest data available is available is for 2019.

Notes

  1. Figures for England and Wales combined include deaths of non-residents. Figures for England and Wales separately exclude deaths of non-residents.

Numbers of deaths registered in the UK in 2020 (up to week ending 1st January 2020, Week 53), are as follows:

614,114 Deaths registered in England and Wales.

64,814 Deaths registered in Scotland.

17,424 Deaths registered in Northern Ireland.

This gives a total number of 696,352 deaths registered in the UK in 2020. This number is provisional and may increase when data are finalised later this year, mainly due to late registrations. A split of England and Wales figures are available in the monthly mortality analysis publication in Table 1 and Table 2.
