I would like to know the total number of deaths for 2020 please for England and Wales, and the total number of deaths in 2019 please.

We publish historic annual mortality totals in our deaths registered series, please see table 1 for these totals:
The finalised annual data for 2020 will be available in summer 2021 following late registration delays due to inquests etc.
Provisional mortality data is available via our 2020 weekly deaths dataset. Provisional weekly totals can be found in the 'Weekly figures 2020' table. I have summed these figures for you.
All causes England and Wales 2019 - 530,841
All causes England and Wales 2020 (provisional) – 614,114
