You asked

According to ONS data mortality has risen significantly in the 15-19 year old age group since May 2021, particularly in males.

I note the ONS has previously linked death data and NIMS vaccination data i.e. when you published on deaths after vaccination. Therefore, could you please confirm the proportion of the 15 to 19-year-olds who account for these increased deaths that had been vaccinated against Covid-19?

Thank you for your request.

Unfortunately, in order to provide the requested information, we would need to create a complex linked bespoke dataset from two sets of raw data. Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, Public Authorities are not obligated to create information in order to respond to requests. We therefore consider this to be information not held.

However, you may be interested to know that we will be providing age-specific mortality rates with further breakdowns by age in our upcoming publication on 9 December. Please see our Release Calendar for updates.

For deaths involving COVID-19 or all cause deaths after receipt of the COVID-19 vaccination, ONS hold the following analysis: Deaths by vaccination status, England. This dataset includes weekly figures for deaths involving COVID-19 and all deaths by vaccination status, occurring between 2 January and 24 September 2021.

We also produce mortality data by five-year age group in the 2021 weekly deaths dataset. You can see male deaths for age 15-19 in row 44 of the 'weekly figures 2021' tab. You can also view weekly deaths involving COVID-19 in row 38 of the 'COVID-19 – Weekly registrations' tab.
